Randomised controlled trial of pharmacist-led patient counselling in controlling hypoglycaemic attacks in older adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus (ROSE-ADAM): A study protocol of the SUGAR intervention

Hypoglycaemia is one of the most serious adverse effects diabetes treatment. Older adults are at highest risk to develop hypoglycaemia. Several studies have established important positive role educational interventions on achieving glycaemic control and other clinical outcomes, however, there still a lack in that evaluate impact such type hypoglycaemia elderly patients with 2 diabetes. The purpose this research effectiveness pharmacist-led patient counselling reducing hypoglycaemic attacks older mellitus. analysis: This study an open-label, parallel controlled randomised trial, which will be conducted outpatient clinics largest referral hospital north Jordan. Participants who (age ≥ 65 years), diagnosed mellitus, taking insulin, sulfonylurea, or any three anti-diabetic medications randomly assigned intervention (SUGAR Handshake) (usual care) groups. SUGAR Handshake participants interactive, individualised, medications-focused session reinforced pictogram phone call week six enrolment. primary outcome measure frequency total events within 12 weeks follow up. Secondary outcomes include asymptomatic, symptomatic, severe events, incidence, time first attack. We also conduct nested qualitative for process evaluation.
